Team Captain
In my time as a college athlete, I was a team captain of my women’s lacrosse team for three years. Players elected team captains based on their ability to lead others. I showed leadership in the way I acted on and off the field.
On the field I was always trying to make everybody better. I would stay after practice and work with anybody that needed help, and made sure to answer any questions to the best of my ability. I also made sure that I was the best player I could be. This meant I worked out and conditioned outside of practice, so that when it came time for the season to start, I was ready to work on team oriented things.
Off the field I organized fundraisers, team activities and community service projects that helped our team grow closer to each other, and our community. I was the only sophomore-appointed captain in team history and was voted in again the following year.
